A few of the blogs that I regularly read have "comment moderation" enabled – meaning that if you post a comment to their blog, it gets screened prior to being posted (or, if the blogger doesn’t like your comment, it doesn’t get posted).
With all respect to my comment moderating friends, I’m not sure I understand the point of moderating comments. It’s not like the blogs I read (or my blog!) are lighting up the internet with thousands of comments or are in particular danger of receiving numerous salacious or offensive comments! And isn’t a free exchange of ideas the high potential of the internet?
