Here’s a nice piece posted on MSNBC (found via google news): Economic populism pays for Democrats, by Edward Luce and Alim Remtulla. As the title suggests, the article describes how important the economy was to this election – particularly the stagnant growth of middle class jobs and the GOP’s unending ability to give tax breaks to oil and pharmaceutical companies even as gas and drug prices shoot through the roof.
This article reminds me, of course, that in the Bible we find teachings about money and care of the community more often than we do about sexuality or war. "It’s the economy, stupid." Jesus didn’t coin that phrase, but it definately captures some of his concerns.
