Readings and prayers for the next seven days – the days leading to and flowing from this Sunday’s Eucharist – are now posted over at the Daily Prayer page.
Please note that in this order of Daily Prayer, November 1 lists two sets of prayers and readings. The first listed is for the Festival of All Saints. The daily lectionary readings for the Thursday prior to this Sunday’s lectionary are also listed, as a secondary option.
Please also note that Sunday, November 4 (when most of our congregations are commemorating All Saints Sunday) is Time After Pentecost (Lectionary 31), not All Saints.
Additional prayers are included this week for the commemorations of Martin of Porres, renewer of society (Saturday, November 3) and John Christian Frederick Heyer, Bartholomaeus Ziegenbalg, and Ludwig Nommensen, missionaries (Wednesday, November 7).
Notwithstanding my appreciation for the distinct celebration of All Saints (Nov 1) and All Souls (Nov 2), I have followed the Lutheran liturgical calendar as found in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. For this year, anyway, The Lutheran Zephyr Daily Prayer Page does not commemorate All Souls Day.
As always, visit the About My Daily Prayer page for more information on this form of daily prayer.
Let us pray.
