Oh Thank Heaven?

Bishop NT Wright offers a brief explanation on why the typical Western understanding of heaven doesn’t match up with the Bible.  Christians Wrong About Heaven, Says Bishop is an interview that appeared in Time magazine earlier this month, and is a teaser for his new book, Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, The Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church.

I shared some similar thoughts, though less direct and less eloquent, in my post from late October, All Saints, All Souls, and the Return of Christ.  I just don’t believe in heaven as it is commonly portrayed.  The Kingdom of God is much more biblical and, frankly, compelling.  Well, more on this later, perhaps.
