In Nehemiah 9 God’s people acknowledge that their current suffering is, in part, a consequence of the sin of those who came before them.
Maybe the church should withhold communion from the whole body, rather than from token individuals, when division rears its head.
There is no need to turn church into a patriotic rally on Memorial Day weekend. But the church certainly should acknowledge the occasion.
