CNN unloads last thoughtful anchor

Aaron Brown, the last anchor at CNN who had an original thought and style, was let go by CNN this week.  He is a thoughtful, introspective newsman who shared the news in a reflective, storytelling style.  In this respect he is reminiscent of the late Charles Karalt of the former Sunday Morning show on CBS (which I watched on weekends at my dad’s house – I loved the fade-away shots of nature that ended the show . . .).

Now, CNN leaves us with Wolf Blitzer (who never met a sustained monotone he didn’t like) and Anderson Cooper (former reality tv show host – ABC’s The Mole – turned hip info-tainment anchor).  This network is about as credible as the crud on the bottom of my shoe.

I don’t have cable TV, but I (used to) listen to CNN on XM Satellite Radio, especially Aaron Brown’s show, formerly at 10PM.  Now I will skip over CNN on the Satellite dial and tune in to the BBC and C-SPAN, and NPR on my FM dial.

Oh well.  Style wins over substance again.
